MicroAir Regulator for Bump Tubing Extrusion

Internal air pressure for plastic tubing extrusion is typically measured in inches of water column (in. W.C.) or pounds per square inch (psi). OLC MicroAir regulators cover ranges from as low as 0–3 inches of water up to 0–5 psi, allowing precise sizing of tubing walls and outside diameter during the free-extrusion process.

The MicroAir IV series — available in single, dual, 3-channel, and 4-channel configurations — is specifically designed for bump and taper tubing. These units accept a 0–10V analog input from a PLC or programmable controller and respond in less than 0.1 second (typically 20 ms), enabling the rapid pressure transitions required to produce precise diameter changes along the tubing.

MicroAir regulators offer three control interface types: manual-only via a precision 30-turn adjustment knob (MicroAir I), contact closure input with manual override from an OD gauge or controller (MicroAir II), and 0–10V analog input compatible with PLCs or programmable devices (MicroAir IV). Each interface suits a different level of automation and response speed requirement.

Each channel can be set to a different pressure range and can have its own digital display and output option, making them ideal for catheter and multi-lumen medical tubing production lines.

MicroAir regulators support ultra-low to low pressure ranges including 0–3 inches of water, 0–5 inches of water, 0–10 inches of water, 0–15 inches of water, 0–30 inches of water, 0–3 psi, and 0–5 psi depending on the model. Factory air is regulated down to approximately 45–65 psi before entering the unit. Range change service is also available.
